Photography

Simultaneously, it will be stretching me and helping me grow in my skills as a photographer, which I must say, is pretty rad. When I got accepted to the trip I did A Lot of excited rambling to my friends about what I'd be doing, and one reaction in particular rather stuck out to me.

We were sat in my room, contemplating the news that I'd be galavanting off into a fjord laden sunset, when they simply looked at me. Not with the normal gormless sort of look that usually resides on the face of those deep in thought, but with a contemplative, piercing glare. After an unnervingly long moment she expressed that it was, as the youth would say, "mad". However she did not mean the situation as a whole, and quickly elaborated that it seemed almost impossible that I had found an opportunity so perfectly suited to my interests, that I would both be exploring a new country and culture, and diving headfirst into the world of photography as I did so.

I have been interested in photography for a good few years. I started my journey by buying a phone based solely on the merits of its camera, and then stretching the art of mobile photography as far as it would go. Then, just about a year ago, I bought myself a DSLR. It is a Canon 200D (aka the "Rebel SL2" or "Kiss X9" for those of you in the Americas or Japan) and started learning the ins and out of this new, much more complicated medium. This interest in photography is what birthed the very website this blog is hosted upon. Were you to explore this website a little you'd find the modest beginnings of what hopes to be an extensive portfolio, and a link to my instagram for good measure (and please do explore! I'm rather proud of her). As such this missions opportunity will be furthering me towards my missions based goal, but also in my creative endeavours, and it really couldn't be more perfect.
